Kotodama
-Spirit of language, Power word, magic word, what ever you want to use its all the same. Kotodama is the theory that words or sounds influence magical activity. In other words spells.
-I liked looking at this because it gave me a new take on our casting system. We had planned that one would say a spell but if they did not have a wand nothing would happen(except for a few spells) The thing is we had no explanation as to why some spells could be completed without a wand, but now we do.
-Look at it like this. One can say a spell and it will happen. If I say fire, then fire will appear. The problem is I have no way of controling the fire.
-The wand is a tool, like a bow for an arrow. The arrow is sharp and can hurt without the bow but its less effective. If I chanted a spell without my wand I might end up setting myself on fire as well as my opponent, or I could end up with more or less fire than I had planned. With a wand however my spell is more efficient and directed and controlable.
-So form now on I say that for any spell if it is said it will happen but unless it has a wand behind it, it will not be so helpful.
--The wand is not needed for all spells though. For things that are considered incantations, like raising the dead or summoning things, the wand is not really needed because the spell is a lot less specific.(this is sort of hard to explain on the forum, if any questions just call me.)

I understand, but do we really want to confine the different types of spells into 'having a wand' and 'not having a wand'? I'm thinking about something someone said in this forum, where there are 4 different types of spells: continuous controllable, uncontinuous controllable and so forth.

There are alot more then 4 types of spell castings. He was trying to simplify it but it makes perfect sense. Lets say you were charging a fireball from your wand. If you tried charging it in your hand though it might not burn you because you are feeding it energy and that energy making a slight protection for you in the focus point it can still burn your arm or catch your clothing on fire ect. You can cast any spell with or without a wand though there are some you will want to use a wand for.

Thats non sequitur. At one point Shane said in the post that with a wand, the spell would be 'directed and controllable', which would imply that without a wand, the spell would be undirected and uncontrollable.

It is possible that I misread the post, and it means that a spell cast with a wand would be more directed and more controllable than without.

Its always controlable but its really difficult without a wand and dangerous to the caster.

Agathion
-An agathion is a familiar spirit which appears only at midday in the shape of a human or an animal, or even within a talisman, bottle or magic ring.

It claims to be a Familiar therefore well you know what i mean. But it is something we can work in. Im trying to find more info on it

Familiar- In early modern English superstition, a familiar spirit, imp, or familiar (from Middle English familiar, related to family) is an animal-shaped spirit who serves for witchery, a demon, or other magician-related subjects. Familiars were imagined to serve their owners as domestic servants, farmhands, spies, and companions, in addition to helping bewitch enemies. These spirits were also said to inspire artists and writers (compare Muse).

-During the English Civil War, the Royalist general Prince Rupert was in the habit of taking his large poodle dog named Boye, into battle with him. Throughout the war the dog was greatly feared among the Parliamentarian forces and credited with supernatural powers, evidently considered a kind of familiar. At the end of the war the dog was shot, allegedly with a silver bullet.

Anyways, just an idea

Tamashizume, or mitamashizume, means to pacify the spirit and settle it in the center of the body.
Tamafuri, or mitamafuri, means to reinvigorate the withered soul by shaking a ritual object or, alternatively, the human body itself. It can also express the idea of "beckoning a spirit" into the body.
The Pacification Rite (chinkonsai) performed at the tennō's residential palace involves both activities. There are various explanations of the origin of the chinkonsai. Some trace its origin to the example of Amenouzume — according to the myth of the heavenly rock door in the Kojiki and the Nihongi, she first performed chinkonsai while in a trance and possessed by a deity. Sendai kuji hongi, on the other hand, claims that the first pacification rite was performed by Umashimaji no mikoto who prayed for a tennō and his senior consort using "ten kinds of divine treasures" (tokusa no kandakara). Orikuchi Shinobu, inspired by Suzuki Shigetane, developed a distinctive theory concerning the chinkonsai. According to Orikuchi, the word "furi" in "tamafuri" does not mean to shake or vibrate. It refers rather to possession or being touched by an external spirit.

Onmyōji were specialists in magic and divination. Their court responsibilities ranged from tasks such as keeping track of the calendar, to mystical duties such as divination and protection of the capital from evil spirits. They could divine auspicious or harmful influences in the earth, and were instrumental in the moving of capitals. It is said that an onmyōji could also summon and control shikigami.

Skikigami are a kind of spirit summoned to serve a practitioner of onmyōdō, much like a western familiar. Shikigami cannot be seen by most people, but according to the Heian period onmyōji who were said to control them, shikigami often looked something like a child-sized oni demon. Although invisible, shikigami supposedly could, at the onmyōji's command, take a variety of human or animal forms, possess or bewitch people, and even cause bodily harm or death.

The famous onmyōji Abe no Seimei was believed to be particularly skilled at manipulating shikigami, and even had them performing odd jobs around the house. The Twelve Heavenly Generals were said to be among the shikigami that he employed.
