PostSubject: In The Beginning   Wed Oct 01, 2008 5:08 pm

This idea is based off of both Greek and Hebrew ideologies. It contains a pantheon of gods, like the greek idea, but there is one omniscient head god, like our religion.

Massus - Head God
He is the omniscient, omnipresent God that works with humans invisibly. We never actually know he's there, so players will mostly know him as the creator of the lower gods. He created 6 'children'.

1st Generation

Anata
Anata is the head Spirit goddess, and she is at the head of heaven, the plane where all the angels and such reside. Shes the 'good guy', and most closely follows Massus. Very calm, wise, and beautiful. Before Tratune became evil, they had four children: Arisil, Riala, Chael, and Gabran. Her main flaw came about when Tratune openly opposed Massus for the first time, because she swore to Tratune that she would forever oppose him and never forgive him for what he was bringing about. Because she removed the possibility of forgiveness, her actions have tended towards this fault ever since. She sees the flaws in everyone and refuses them entry into her realm save for those completely devoted to her.

Tratune
Tratune is the head Spirit god, and is the leader of hell and all who reside within. He brought sin into the world, because he considered himself greater than Massus and challenged his authority. He desires to take all that Massus has and have it for himself, which is why Tratune will occasionally do good things, because he desires holy actions to be under his control. Ultimately, he is bound to that one ambition to become the God.

Evella
Evella is the head Body goddess. She is the earth mother figure, and governs the planet. She is very warm, passionate, loving, and the most physically attractive goddess. She and Oron have 4 children: Furis, Ventus, Aqira, and Indira. She enjoys alluring lesser beings to her beauty for her own amusement occasionally.

Oron
Oron is the head Body god. He has to do with the forces of creation. You could think of Evella as being in charge of matter, and Oron in charge of energy: things like the weather, electromagnetism, and gravity. He is a strong, sensible, tactical, and leaderlike god, and his natural form is that of an Ashen warrior, fully suited in armor. He is considered a warmonger, and dwells on fighting, and bloodshed.

Oron and Evella are both thrill seekers, and will sometimes sacrifice the safety of themselves and others in order to experience an adrenaline rush.

Ichora
Ichora is the head Mind goddess. She governs all the workings of the mind and brain and emotions. She and Ichora have 4 children: Premeses, Nima, Achrus, and Aggrus. One of her gifts is to understand the minds of others, and read their thoughts. She is very wise when it comes to dealing with other sentient life. Sometimes she will take the physical form of an emotion, such as the pure physical representation of happiness, or grief, or fury, just to understand it better or see how the world reacts to a certain emotion. For her to be alone is like torture. She will also sometimes put the petty whims of others before her own needs just in order to please them, therefore she will sometimes ignore the right thing to do so she can do what the person she's focused on wants her to do.

Teres
Teres is the head Mind god. He mostly deals with concepts such as time and other dimensions. So its like he deals with the reality of sentient thoughts and conceptions. He'd have a lot to do with that realm of thoughts. He can be described as cryptic and enigmatic, and separates himself from other gods. He desires no attachment to other sentient life save Ichora. He believes he is so abstract and different that no other being can relate to him. Only Ichora, who can reach him because she understands his deepest fear, can connect with him.
Teres does not neccessarily have a natural physical form. It is some confused combination of the physical 3 dimensions and other planes.

2nd Generation

Spirit
Arisil - goddess of the arcane
Riala - goddess of the spirit realm
Chael - chosen child of Tratune; god of unholy
Gabran - chosen of Anata; god of holy

Body
Furis - god of fire
Ventus - god of wind
Aqira - goddess of water
Indira - goddess of earth

Mind
Premeses - goddess of divination
Nima - goddess of the mind
Achrus - god of time
Aggrus - god of mechane

And So On...
From there, the gods and goddesses would get together and have lots of children to govern different things. I was planning for the 3 pairs of gods and goddesses above to give birth to the heads of the 12 divisions of magic.

Creation?
Massus is the only god who has creation power over everything. He created everything in our RP, including the things that the lesser gods are in charge of. I figure it would sound very similar to the bibles first few chapters, so i didnt really write it down, but if you have anything innovative, then please post it.

One Last Note
None of the lesser gods and goddesses are perfect in any way, and they can all be defeated. If you defeat a god, you gain their job, and powers. Another thing is that Tratune is not perfectly evil, and may do an act of good every now and then, and Anata is not perfectly good, and can actually do some pretty evil things.

I'm definitely looking for input from you guys on this. This isn't complete but it's a start. It still needs a lot of interaction between the gods. I'll be thinking more about this.

I like it ok, theres just one thing. The Evil guy part. Its basically just another saitin, and that makes a good story but its a bit... I dont want to say cliche but... It doesnt have to be a Guy brings Sin into the world conflict.

Well you have a more Greek type system of Gods and Godesses, and in the Greek myths the Gods did not always act perfectly as we believe God does. It might make sense to give these Gods and Goddesses a more human grasp of right and wrong, meaning they can be loyal to one side (good or evil) but still mess up here and there. We dont have to say This evil guy brought sin into the world because he rebelled, he just rebelled because he is loyal to evil, and evil was an idea they allready knew of.

so all the gods brought evil into the world on their own, and not influenced by a main evil god?

Well.. Yes in a way they all came into the world knowing what evil was, just like us humans do, but they dont all choose it. I mean sure they might loose their temper every once in a while but thats cool. There can be a God who is extremely evil and realy just thrives off of his malace and what not but it doesn't have to be "THis guy had evil first," it was just part of his nature and he leaned towards it.
